Star Trek icon William Shatner has recorded a prog rock album with axe heroes Steve Vai and Mick Jones, he's revealed.
The concept record is called Ponder The Mystery and the actor – immortalised as Captain James T Kirk – says he's tackled themes of "ageing, depression, love and beauty."
The 82-year-old adds: "It's quite possibly the most creative thing I've ever done."
Unbelievably it's Shatner's fourth studio album. In 2011 he released Seeking Major Tom, for which he enlisted the talents of Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Howe, Sheryl Crow, John Wetton and others. It included his take on Queen classic Bohemian Rhapsody, below.
Ponder The Mystery is released next month.
